Eh, it was alright. Watching Extra Gear now. Chris and Rory are substantially better presenters both in and out of car than other Chris and Matt. Like if they weren’t busy doing other things they would be the leads. Anyway pros and cons:

Pros:

Matt is a great addition

Lots of cars

Was funnier than I was expecting

Banter

Cons:

Super awkward audience cuts

Some how too much and too little Evans. It will be interesting to see him solo a film

Music was too loud

Cringey attempts to replicate old Top Gear silliness at times

Panto

Anyway I look forward to the rest of series because in the end it’s a lot better than most car TV show but that wasn’t a particular high bar.

I suppose we get it tonight here in NYC. I heard/read Evans had been a complete asshole at the first taping. That does not bode well. Still, I suppose I’ll watch - I watch American Top Gear even though it’s all challenges - no Star, no road tests, nothing.

Yeah it ain’t that. Top Gear US series 1 but much better done is more like it. As for Chris, I wouldn’t say he’s an arsehole but he’s trying way too hard even more so with how relaxed Matt is next to him.

Here it’s Game of Thrones 24/7 right now, so I’ll probably get to watch it tomorrow. I run hot and cold on LeBlanc. The Episodes series is pretty good. I’ve never seen an episode of Friends - it looked horrible. LeBlanc looks like he’s sedated most of the time. But time will tell. And despite Clarkson’s horrible behavior, I’ll almost certainly watch the Amazon series.

The tabloids that have had Top Gear on full blast since the days when the third presenter wasn’t named “James May” said Evans had been a complete ass, but The Guardian, (which hasn’t been the kindest to Top Gear over the years, but is at least more reputable of a publication than The Sun) said the taping wasn’t that bad and Evans came off in person as nervous, not a dick.
